missing her is like the wind…

she cries into the sheet that is my arm

pretending love hasn't been lost

and yet…

you were the wind blowing against the cheek

a cold night reminiscing

soon you would be gone

like a fairy tale without a happy ending

leaving to wonder why the wind…

does it blow again

or has the breeze gone out the window…

tears fall to the silent sweep as love brushes against

the tingle of the bumps bruised by sweat

her skin enfolds a rapture of love lost

wondering how she could have gone away

from me…

from me to her and back again

the wind blows from the east gently

sweeping her away millions of miles to thunder

lost in the backroads now of domestication

a housewife and a mother

the highway cut from under

and yet I keep waiting…

I am the sky the highway the rolling wheels

wondering when that blowing wind will come again

sweet return sweet death

i am the night the wind and the sky

and yet she is within

waiting to return from her home now

across a family she reaches for me

blowing to return her soft kiss against my sweet cheek

i wait in anticipation

knowing full well it's never really gone

and yet never here to stay…

i love you…

  1. Wow. This is beautiful, and feels so familiar to me. It’s one of those American tale moments – are you staring at the same stars as me? You really made a deep everlasting pain beautiful and gentle here.

  2. Thank you. I actually wrote this while listening to audioslave so there’s definitely some liberal use of Cornell’s lyrics in here. I find music to be a great inspiration…

  3. I thought the line “I am
The sky…. ” was from I am the highway. Woot. Love audioslave. When he died man..I said to one of my friends, “chris Cornell saved me from killing myself a few times. I listened to him and went away. I believed then – this dude can take all this bullshit. All this pain, and paint it. I can too. I have to…it’s killing me that the man who saved my life didn’t have a chris Cornell to save him, or that the pain we seem to share took him..”

And yeah, I usually need to write to music. Christ I need to basically live to music.
