What makes a good poem?

What makes a good poem?

Is it proper line structures

A succinct edit?

Or a well rhymed couplet…

Me sors it have structure

Like a well metered Shakespearean sonnet

Or just by chance a happy mistake?

And does it make your heart flutter?

Or cause you to stop and ponder the moon…

A customary pause and reflect

Or simply a moment to irritate by its air of pontification?

And do you follow the author

And consider yourself devoutly devoted?

Or is it simply eye candy?

Pleasing to the retina…

Something you happened to find by mistake?

Perhaps it is simply fate

About Michael Medlen

My name is Michael and during my free time I avoid having a day job. Strangely enough, this gives me the freedom to run this blog. I write just about anything that can be considered art. I also occasionally post articles that may or may not be relevant to the theme of this site. You’ve been warned.
